OK, just where the heck is El Dorado in relation to the rest of the world? Well, we’re pretty much smack dab in the middle of the American South, just north of the Louisiana line and an easy drive from Texas or Mississippi. El Dorado definitely shows off its Southern charm, with a little bit of the Wild West oil town thrown in for good measure.

El Dorado is home to the global headquarters for Fortune 500 Murphy Oil, and as unofficial capital of Arkansas’ sprawling timberland region, it’s a comfortable and cosmopolitan little jewel with lots of amenities you might not expect in a town of its size.
